Each drum is one of a kind, and has it's own sound and spirit. Things like age, type of skin (Elk or Moose), temperature, humidity, climate and how the animal was taken make contribute to the sound of the drum.
Choice of drumsticks is very important, the drum maker can help you in this choice.
Adding or removing water is a method tuning our drums. To get a deeper sound add a little water to the head (the top or inside) with a towel or spray bottle. This will not harm the drum. To get a higher sound slowly warm the drum using a heat source.
The handles if Piitas rattles can be removed so the pebbles can be replaced. The pebbles should be replaced as the pebbles break up.
When you purchase a drum or rattle Piita will instruct you on the tuning options for you drum and area.
